Arezzo

Arezzo 34 km. The Cathedral of Arezzo, on the top of the hill where the city stands, has vaulted ceilings and houses a 15th century fresco by Piero della Francesca depicting Mary Magdalene. In the chapel of the nearby Basilica of San Francesco there are other frescoes by Piero della Francesca. The Basilica of San Domenico where you can see the Crucifix of Santa Croce, painted by Cimabue in the 13th century. The impressive Medicea Fortress offers a splendid view of the city. It is the city of "La vita è bella" super award-winning film starring Roberto Benigni, not to be missed Piazza Grande where the Giostra del Saracino takes place twice a year in June and September.The Arezzo Antique Fair is held every first Sunday of the month and previous Saturday in the heart of the medieval city.
